Maryborough

The Season for Seasoning

Ladies from Lakeshore, Gympie, Bundaberg and Maryborough gathered. The theme this year was ‘The Season for Seasoning’, June Fisher and the team from Bundaberg presented the program, with time for praise, worship and prayer. Each of the churches brought a report sharing what had been happening during the past year, this is always interesting hearing what the others do in supporting, encouraging  and reaching out we all can get lots of new and fresh ideas.

Donna Savill brought the message for the day ‘Savour the Flavour’. . She challenged us to make sure the fruits of the Holy Spirit are lived out in our lives.  This can be hard as we are often consumed by the distractions of life which can bring about fear of standing out, in a world that seems so against our beliefs, as in 1 Peter 3:14-15 “But even if you should suffer what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened. But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” NIV

So how do we do this, Colossians 4:2-6 – devote yourself to prayer – be watchful and thankful – pray that God opens the door for our message – so that we can share the gospel clearly – be wise in the way you act with people who don’t know Christ – make the most of every opportunity – let your conversation always be full of grace (seasoned with salt) be graceful in how we use our words.

I loved this statement Donna shared “Be thirsty, remember it’s not your job to make them drink it’s your job to make them thirsty”.

Donna acknowledged though it can be scary to share our faith BUT even though opportunities can be missed keep on and remember the more you do this the easier it will become. Donna gave each of us some small seeds in a packet to remind us what God can do.

Thank you again to the ladies from Maryborough for your warm hospitality and the men for serving us with morning tea, lunch and doing the dishes!! Thank you.  Everyone who came enjoyed a time of special time ‘savouring the flavour’.
